I had a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 from an old Nikon film camera and I have used this lens for some time. Its one of my favorite lens, it’s really fast, sharp, light weight and compact. It’s perfect for almost any occasions and I use it as my every day lens for 2 reason:
- Its small and light weight
- Its force me to see thing differently, because it’s a prime lens and I have to use my feet to zoom.
The second reason its the most important for me, because force me to become better at composition and for the price of this lens the benefit are far better. That why I decide to upgrade and bought the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 and I love it even more. The focus is fast and silent, the picture looks sharper at f/1.4 that the old one at f/1.8.
I use it on my last wedding, no flash just available light.
Also I’m stating to take some videos with the DSRL and the quality of the image, the smooth focus ring and the big aperture make this lens perfect for video.
