Have you come across a situation where you are portraying someone and the sun is so harsh? You love that background, the model is doing an excellent job but when you see the screen of your camera, you realize how horrible it out the shadows and highlight are, the contrast are too strong.
Luckily we have equipment available to deal with that situation.
This photo was taken at Fort San Cristobal in Old San Juan, PR at 11:45 am. For those who are from Puerto Rico know how strong the sun is at that time. To counteract the effects of the sun and to do that you only need to use the best of the best in equipment. A softbox 80”x 76”in a 10,000 watt strobe, camera right and above.
Thinking that this equipment is super expensive or pointless, but you are wrong is so easy to get it would be a crime not to. You can get it in stores like Walmart or Sears under the name “king size bed sheet” or as we know some white sheets, yeah you read correctly white sheets which cost about $ 5.00 U.S.
For your next shooting do not be afraid to take this giant softbox and just block the sun in your subject with the white sheet.
Now go out and shoot!
